Free Summer Album, Just For You!
I made you a mixtape.
It’s been a cool thing to put together while enduring a massive heat wave. Nothing beats being in a studio that’s 107 degrees! So, you may / may not dig all these songs, it’s just what I’ve been into lately. Some artists you may have heard of, some hopefully not. And if you are one of those artists and want to sue me for putting your songs on a mixtape,….go for it! My tunes are all over the torrent / blog download purgatory, so you’re preaching to the choir.
Most of these songs are by artists that are long gone / out of print / never saw the light of day, so hopefully I’m just proliferating some good tunes. It’s worth downloading for The Moles track alone.
Give it a spin. Let me know if you dig.
Happy summer.
- Kevin

Hi Kevin-
I haven’t had time to listen to it yet, but appreciate the effort. In return, here’s something great for you to download. Go to Daytrotter.com and download the 4 tunes that Jeffrey Lewis and the Junkyard did for them recently. Wow. Awesome stuff! Also, if you like slightly weird, but brilliant garagey stuff, also download the Daniel Johnston tunes, and be sure to read the write up that they did for his visit. as usual, he was there, but his mind was way off in space!
Enjoy!
wow, that is soo awesome, I never heard almost all of those songs before, and every one was as good if not better than the preceeding one. Impeccable taste in music good job.
Awesome!
You should totally submit this mix to the Yewknee Summer Mix Series. I DARE you!
These tunes take me back to an era that I thought was a peaceful, loving and free time in my life. The peace, love, hippie era of my life, which wasn’t the “way,” but it opened my mind to searching for, and finding The Way, and the real freedom that comes along with the journey to the origin of peace and freedom. Crib to tree to stone, the journey he made alone. He left directions so others could follow.
wow! what an awesome mix!
Thanks Kevin. You are too generous. Reminds me of a scene from High Fidelity - well, maybe not.
Thanks Kevin!! Just threw it on.
Thank you Kevin! it’s good to know that you were thinking about us this summer.
Tanx Kevin! And hey good to see you again at the KEXP BBQ.
Lovely, thanks Kevin!
[...] Kevin Robinson of Viva Voce recently stepped out of his home studio to release a gem of a summer mixtape. Combining ancient, out-of-print psych songs with so-ridiculous-they-must-be-real radio promos for some crazy movies, there’s no way you can not enjoy Kevin’s Summer Mix. [...]
mixtape = love!!!

For real, this is like a fantastic late birthday present. Well done!
Charming and delightful all around!
Many thanks for a diamond tiara of sound gems.
46 across in The Onion crossword puzzle “Viva ____” and as you can guess by my enthusiasm (and by my posting this on your website) the answer was Voce! I’m not entirely sure whether they were talking about you or the italian phrase or the acapella boy band that comes up whenever I search your name on iTunes but The Onion/A.V. Club is popular with that indie/hipster crowd so I wouldn’t put it past them to feature a popular indie band as an answer.
Whatever the case may be, in my book you guys have officially made it… into a crossword puzzle that I do every week.
PS: that mix tape is good stuff!
Great shakes, what a psych-out mix! I wasn’t too sure I wanted to hear Over the Rainbow or whatever you’re doing at Paschal Winery but hey if you like the Moles and all you can’t be bad! Are you an Eels fan too?
Totally Bueno,.. Thanks!
Kevin,
We love this mix - you’re the best! Can’t wait to see you again in PDX!
I can’t believe you know Spermmull! I am a big fan of 70s German rock bands who aren’t necessarily Krautrock. Thanks for the mix.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this mix. i have been listening to it in it’s entirety on repeat pretty much since i downloaded it. i am in <3 w/ the sea-ders…. thank you so much! i hope you decide to do another one soon!
also, when the hell are you guys going to be in NYC?
Dude, a day late and a buck short on this one but PLEASE DO ANOTHER ONE RIGHT NOW. This mix rocked my summer.
